Our household and business uses about 1.5 to 2.5 kW/day of electric power compared to the average North American household consumption of 29kW/day. These numbers put our conservation efforts into clear perspective. Yes, there are occasional days when the energy monitors indicate this is not a good day for laundry or vacuuming but this rarely causes any real inconvenience or discomfort. If the grid is available you can hook up and have a GRID TIED SYSTEM. Imagine running your meter backwards!!! People who live on the grid never have to think about their electrical consumption EXCEPT WHEN THE GRID GOES DOWN. When you live with a battery-based grid tied system those worries disappear. In the event of Grid failure, you have back up power to essential loads instantly.
